THE GLORY OF GLASS

Level two and three art students were often given the challenge to draw different surfaces, the most difficult being glass. Addressing highlights, shadows, middle tones, reflections and textured glass tests one's patience and expertise. Many light and dark values need expression with varied qualities of blending. Some reflections have very thin hard edges, sharply contrasting in shadows or middle tones requiring clean clarity. The placement and interaction of these values invites close scrutiny and application. The following works met these qualities well.

In these examples studies varied and included black collage additions, all glass shapes, glass and other textures, single study, delicate and strong renderings, and unusual placements or backgrounds. Multiple objects were 24"X36" and single studies were 18"X24".
