Art strives for form and hopes for beauty.....Greg Bellows

Very curvilinear shapes characterize both examples of single, double, and triple cuts. Students selected various colors of 4" X 12" construction paper and shapes were mounted on 9" X 12" formats. It might be interesting to expand these positive/negative shape forms with relief design for added dimension.

Soft curves, sharp points, straight lines, thick or thin, wide or narrow, all forms contribute to strongly contrasted positive and negative shapes. A feature of this design study I especially like is that all of the initial strip becomes integrated into the completed forms. There are no scraps, and nothing is thrown away. It's easily understood and cleanup is a breeze!
