INTERVAL DESIGNInterval means "space". It is a background contour, a negative space which surrounds individual parts of a composition. In this cutting process, each piece must be diminished in size in order to be contained within the original shape and permit the interval to show. Resizing the shapes also creates the interval design. The simple leaves below explain the cutting process. |
