CYLINDERS HAVE CLASS

We reviewed charcoal applications, open and closed shapes, transparent and opaque, elipses and added a splash of fabrics too. Each student was encouraged to design beyond the original practice shapes as they wished. You might do the same. Here's how it began:

Guide lines assist in placement on the 18" X 24" format--colored or white. The first capped cylinder has its cover slightly extended beyond the sides. An overlapped transparent glass cylinder has different sized elipses, and a spoon distorted at the water line.

Next, we added an open, slanted tube, and students were required to create a cover for it and to place it somewhere in the design. The final addition was to include fabric folds hanging in any manner behind the objects as transparent or opaque material. It was a good refresher.
