ON OUR OWN

  Each style of pastel rendering was initially practiced with 2 objects on 9"X12" manila. This was followed practices of 4 different sketches showing figure drawing, landscape, still life, nature study, animals or close-detail compositions. Summary work would demonstrate their final selections for a free, fluid, linear "gesture", a short stroke, layered "broken color", an axial line "directional movement" and a loose or tightly controlled "blended" drawings. Work was to include manila, gray, white and 1 color backgrounds in 12"X18" or 18"X24" size. The next 3 pages present some of their completed drawings.

Both are Gesture drawings-- the left on black and the right on blue colored paper.
