windowtoart "Drawing": Practice 1   Practice 2   Curves   Drawing     Choices

We planned 12"X18" drawing paper with 4 -5" circles. The first practice has 3 overlapping layers, each layer in a different color for clarity. Point #1 is placed at center bottom.

Practice 1.

The construction begins by connecting point 1 to point 15, continuing 2 to 16, 3 to 17, etc. all around the circle. The connecting is completed when point 35 to point 14 has been reached.

Practice 1a.

The second set of lines overlaps the first connecting from point 1 to point 11, continuing in the same manner as above, ending with point 35 and 10.

Practice 1b.

The third linear layer connected point 1 to 7 and continued around to point 35 and 6.

Practice 1c.

After connections were completed, students were to seek 3 patterns inherent in the drawing and present them in any color techniques they liked.
This first practice was to (1)define the 36 circumference points, (2)show different parabolic curve widths by varying the length of the connection numbers ( the higher the number the longer the lines and the smaller the inside circular curve) and (3) extract a simple series of 3 shape patterns within the drawing. Colored gel pens were used.
flashing arrow     The next practice incorporates inner and outer circles in Practice 2 with connections between and around each. Give a look!
