windowtoart "Drawing": Rat Maze   Para Relief 1   Curves 3   Squares   Drawing     Choices

An extra credit possibility was offered with this unique "circle". It would be constructed entirely of straight lines and have a circular movement. It was to have 4 or more inward and outward loops--rectangular, of course.

It was a good activity for those not ruler challenged.

The format for all parabolic line drawings was 12"X18". Length was kept to an 11" maximum.

Parabolic design was a productive supplement to drawing for beginning, inexperienced art students. Each sequence was a forseeable goal and an opportunity to master simple math and precision drawing skills. The progression from angles to curves and free form circles repeated previous the practice skills of the former and the end results were always unique. Besides, they were fun to do!

flashing arrow     From 2D drawing we now move to 3D "reliefs", where parabolic line now becomes colored string. Check out String Relief for a different application. This series is part of the "3d" Home section.
