windowtoart "Drawing": Sequential 1:Completion   Part 2     Part 1   Drawing     Choices

SNIPS, FUZZ, LAYERS-- PATIENT MANIPULATIONS

Hours of cutting, fitting, gluing, trimming, and forming are necessary with fabric design. Invited to freely explore dimensionally, diverse choices were made. There was "snipping" cords and yarns into slices and soft fuzz, cutting fabrics into mosaic or other shapes, and plying cloth into sculptural form. Final conclusions were nicely surprising.

The left design incorporated fabric folds and the right one weaved and braided yarns. Altogether, the import of this and other "sequential designs" is that an idea can be expressed in numerous ways, and perhaps there never is a "best" or "final". What do you think?

flashing arrow     A more difficult form of Sequential Design involves double cutting, double contour drawing, and a marriage of both. See this Sequential Design 2 challenge!
