windowtoart "Drawing": Surface Study 3   Part 1    Drawing     Choices

Look how the microphone changed in her final composition on the right.

This was not an ordinary interpretation: broken glass; spider web; trouncing elephant; speeding bullet and disappearing liquid. What story about it would you have? Vive le imagination!

This class demo enabled students to see changes conceived and follow up rendering. It was enjoyable to receive their suggestions as well. Conte crayon collage, white ink/pencil on black collage, colored and black pencil drawing complete the composition.

PROCESS REVIEW

1. The contour placement was to show ingenuity in balance, line control and invite some borderless areas. 9"X12" format.

2. Using different examples of the surface study that were selected, the objects would be rendered in a variety of mixed media. 12"X18" format.

3. The final application would be an amalgamation of their best renderings. The composition was to be a further development of the original contour. New changes and additions were welcome. 22"X28" format.

The innovations were well expressed by third level students.
