ART 1: COMPLEMENTARY COLOR PAINTING

for the Unit: Painting With Neutrals

A or A-

Good creation of new buildings with interesting exteriors; some 3d shapes; color blends have strong contrasts against each other; very good painting quality; sharp contours; interesting added details and textures.

B+ B or B-

Good building design inventions; complementary color mixes defined well; most areas have balanced color mixtures; good edge painting in general; some added features of visual textures..

C+ or C

Some sections of invented architecture visible but original building outlines should have been changed much more; color mixtures could be clearer and have sharper distinctions; hard to see differences.

C- or D

Directions not followed; original plan not changed or had only very minor changes; too few color mixtures or not balanced in contrasts next to each other; work may be unfinished; painting quality needs improvement.Come on, try harder!

In this experience students were asked to write a paragraph on these issues: (A) What color mixing methods have you learned in order to make varied contrasts with hues? (B)When you are asked to "change the appearance of a design" where can you go for some resources?
