Line As Movement: Introduction to Art

for the Unit: Line As Movement

A or A-

Excellent line drawing with well controlled curves; line blendings very well done; design fills entire background; excellent variety of directions, sizes and internal fills.

B+ B or B-

Controlled line drawing; very good movements in most areas; most joins correct and smooth; directions could have varied more; organization pleasing and neat.

C+ or C

Most line drawing accurate, but some "corners" show; background too empty; lacks variety in direction; too much line "sameness".

C- or D

Joinings and direction changes not completely understood; errors in connections; design "unfilled"; more change attempts were needed.

In this experience these 3 questions were asked:

  • What was the first rule to follow and why was this so important?
  • Describe how to avoid creating "corners".
  • Name one value of drawing only with line.
