for the Unit: Simple Collage

A or A-

All materials used and applied in interesting and unusual ways; Very good design ideas and interpretation; Strong visual textures created; very clear answers to required questions on back of format.

B+ B or B-

Shapes are generally well balanced in background space; Materials were used and directions were followed good to fair; good color contrasts and blending; Shapes have good size relationships and organized fairly well. Questions answered varied in quality and clearness of presentation.

C+ C or C-

Material use varied in meeting requirements; Some materials missing and some directions not completed; visual textures varied from good to acceptable; shapes needed more variety and connections to one another.

D

Work is incomplete in requirements; directions not followed; Insuffient shapes, textures or material applications; questions not answered completely.

Students were encouraged to develop writing skills and demonstrate the concepts they learned by answering required questions on the back of their project papers. In this experience these 3 questions were asked:

  • What is the difference between actual and visual textures?
  • How did you balance shapes to make them more interesting and unusual in design?
  • What was a problem you had in this assignment and how did you solve it?
