WET COLORED PENCIL: Practices (Art 3)

for the Unit: Color Patches

A or A-

Washes handled clearly; innovative blends and mixes; smooth and textured applications effected well; All small shape practices showed excellent control of wet and dry mixes and good personal interpretations.

B+ B or B-

Washes showed good learning experiences: some very well done and a few a bit muddy; texture practices could be a bit more modified so as not to dominate; Small practices were well done but more textural drawing could have been employed in backgrounds.

C+ or C

Washes seemed too plain--not enough attempts at textural implementation; Some small practices were better and did show applications of some various techniques.

WET COLORED PENCIL: Applications

for the Unit: Black And Color Applications

A or A-

Black washes very strong with rich dark/light contrasts; Summary drawing well varied in techniques applied; excellent color overlays; exciting subject matter.

B+ B or B-

Black washes handled well; initial washes must be kept lighter so overlays have oppportunities for more contrasts; Summary drawing mostly painted well; need to blend water more quickly; avoid "halo" effect around individual objects which show that the background was not completely painted first.

C+ or C

Black washes had too little differences; more overlays needed; Summary drawing had good attempts; large background areas may show too much different color "puddling" that could have been more smoothly rendered.
