windowtoart "Foundations": 4-Way Ink Drawing Part 3   Intro   Drawing     Choices

CHOICES

A conclusion to practise skills is always offered allowing these to be expressed more personally as a summary design and at a level of difficulty one chooses.

These were: 12"x18" FORMAT: Design a composition of several objects or shapes, or a singular concentration and select ONE final rendering:
1. Combination of solid areas and ink textures with pen and/or brush.
2. All textural re-design with ink, solid areas and 3 contrasts of gray.
3.Neutral toned painting with added ink textures and collaged with neutral 3-dimensional materials.

No. 1 was the most popular selection.
Please see Textural Ink Drawings for other finished compositions.

5. 18"X24" FORMAT A redesigned or new composition with geometric, abstract or other elements, use mixed media and incorporate texture, collage materials and other composition ideas you know. Color choices of your own.

Two very different departures are seen here. On the left a new theme, with ink wash, colored pencil gesture, water color weaved strips and collage. On the right the original corn stalks (previous page) assume new contours and abstracted forms with painted background and textures, and augmented with fabric and paper collage surfaces.

There is another approach that was offered having a very different "look"--it invites a Transparent Collage interpretation. Check it out!

Offering a few ways for practised skills to be summarized permits each individual to select a compositional level that can be challenged or easily reached. Evaluations always consider complexity of design as well as synthesis of idea, craftsmanship, and demonstrated skills.
