In studying this element, students were encouraged to present their "shapes" in a unique/different/unusual way by beginning with an idea and then changing it. They are also encouraged to plan at least 3 varied attempts. It is a criteria of design we try to enforce constantly. |

Curved forms nicely fill a patterned divided background. Some students, as this one,(left) began with naturalistic shapes and then by eliminating areas, redesigned them. Unusual for the right one was the idea of "layering" wallpaper in an overlapping mosaic technique. |

The basketball theme blends bent foul lines and square "hoops" for an interesting arrangement. Tent, stakes and flat fire form a semi-abstract, textured, camping composition. |
