In tagboard printing, designing with "levels" emphasizes the clear definition of edges. Being raised from the surface, the crayon hits the different layers sharply and color is thickly imparted. This effect is well noted in the left example. A soft, thin paper for printing is recommended--newsprint or light weight bogus paper are very practical. Also, block materials should not be too thick to avoid tearing the paper during the printing process. Each of these examples utilized different collage materials: string in the first, split toothpicks in the second, and glue in the third. Sure beats rubbing pennies! |
