I love the humor in this painting as well as the ease of shapes and washes lightly floating in both background and foreground. Painted by a former teacher and friend, it's a "keeper" to me.

There will never be a time when wax resist will not appeal to me. It's nature is always somewhat unexpected. Wet-in-wet washes and direct ink drawing add to its loose and free depiction.

Monocromatic hues can be so powerful! It's a case of saying much with little. Layers and some negative painting add brush interest and quiet attention to the foreground.

On smooth bond paper tight, controlled blended washes can almost look like tempera paints. Background and water washes add technique diversity.
