This shows a classroom (5 suns for each day of the week), teacher with brush and paper in hand, and a fun activity of camping. The border is a pattern of leaves and stripes. Hieroglyphics include art tools, animals and their tracks, camera, radio and a bicycle.

The scenes are about time in school, playing basketball (with motion lines around the figure) and getting a suntan. The border alternates a pattern of rectangles and lines. Hieroglyphics use a clock, books, pencil, writing paper and 5 suns; birds, sunglasses, flowers and a refreshing drink with a straw.

Every teens dream: driving a car, then off to the beach (I love the ants around the blanket) and back home. The border has gold star shapes. Hieroglyphics show shapes about weather and a gas pump; water life, sailboat and sea shells; day and night, leaves, car, bricks and a barbecue.

There was much to learn about Egyptian art, tools, "paints" and styles. Introductory students were challenged with figure drawing, handling watercolors, using computers and imitating the resources they found. In all cases, interpretation was successful and enjoyed. I found their personal hieroglyphics very clever and appropriate. However, they did relish the opportunity to be "modern" in art class once again.
