EXAM TIME

After several days of individual demonstration/practices and summary paintings, we have a general review and for Part 2 of a Quarter Exam students show by their own performance, the skills they have understood and developed.

step by step layers of flat wash

This simple demonstration reviews "layers" and "flat washes". Students were asked to demonstrate this technique in 5 or more steps arranged on a 9"X12" format. Any shape or object and any variety of hues were welcomed. The basic requirement to be met was a good light-to-dark progression so that parts of the underlying layers were visible.

review of 8 watercolor techniques

This poster illustrates the 10 major techniques we practiced.

The exam requirement was to show 8 different, simple shapes arranged on a 12"X18" format.

Each shape was to be rendered in one of these watercolor techniques and correctly labeled.

Two and a half class periods were allowed for both of these exam requirements.

They could be done in any order.

Shapes could be similar in size or be of different sizes. However, the majority of the format was to be used.
