ON OUR OWN

colorful clown

All summary designs were on 12"X18" formats. Full size sketches were developed on themes, pencil sketches planned, techniques to be used were indicated and a light tracing was transferred to the finish paper.

The clown is light, exudes with colorful runny washes (we did get over not liking that feature of watercolor) and I was surprised by the number of students electing to include black and gray washes in their work.

All in all, some very nice level one work was accomplished.

Soft cool hues and graded washes characterize the iris flowers. The bolder face abstraction incorporates wax resist and ink.

Both cool and warm contrasts with wax resist texture mark the left painting. Neutral tones with black washes and dry brush move around the tangled flower.
