SET-UP REVIEW

Both painting wefts are now assembled into one, alternating color and black/white in any manner. There will be blend differences but edges should align. The right image demonstrates using a ruler to open every other warp and then alternate the opposite ones for the next shed insertion. The 8" X 15" inside warp area allows the 9" X 12" paintings (no borders)to be executed in either vertical or horizontal directions, but vertical is preferred. When the weaving is completed, all weft edges are brought to the back and glued in place.

A background matching predominant hues will enhance and blend with them.(left) Contrasting ones seem to exaggerate and create new shape/color identities.

The left paintings were horizontal. Unused wefts from the 1st section continue the weaving to the right edge. Both warp and weft are curved.

In the next section we'll look at some other ideas and colored backgrounds in Group 2.
