A SYLLABUS FOR TEACHERS-- Curriculum Reviews
This is in preparation now and will eventually have links to content demonstrations. The curriculum was always open to needed change and diversity. Click and feel free to borrow or adapt for your needs.
ABOUT STUDENT WORK

Examples include novice to exceptional competence. Student backgounds varied from experienced suburbanites to inner city immigrants with "zip" English/Art skills. We had 87 different dialects! Their examples will give encouragement to others with similar histories.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Displayed art work was selected on "acceptable" standards of competence or better---ie: good comprehension, work met content objectives and had idea integrity.

SITE CREDO

We are not born with art competence. Talent is based upon instinct, determination, and practice, and developes with experience. To me learning is more important than the finished product. Art is truly for everyone. Involvement enriches us and makes for joyful new spirits in its many aspects.

PERSONAL STATEMENTS

Our art curriculum was developed to be(1) achievable by all (their success being the primary goal) and (2) affordable. Inner city teachers will understand. Therefore, many aspects of art---photography, computer art, oil painting, etc. will not be presented here.

Topic texts reflect my own opinions and experience and are not exclusive approaches. I respect others' wisdom and you should too.

I am proud of the student achievements displayed from differing decades. I challenge you to discern early from later ones! We may teach and learn differently, but basic "constants" bind us together--and always will. May you find some here.

It is a pleasure to share the joy of my past experiences with others. May these pages be personally appealling and productive. I look forward to your most welcome thoughts and comments.
