The joy of poster points is their simplicity of form, ease of movement and readability. As the line dance above shows the pen points accommodates all movement directions and maintains its roundness consistenly. The endings of these samples are round because the point head is round. Square poster pens would produce cornered stem beginning and ends. Because it is an "even thickness" letter form, the line width will not change in any drawing maneuver. Letters are strong, bold in wide widths, lighter in narrow ones, easily relate to many topics and pose no problems for "lefties". Poster letters are real communication work horses!

JUST PICK IT UP AND MOVE IT!

Learning to control the Poster pen point is relatively easy in comparison to Roman style pens discussed previously. Although its simplicity is to be admired, good drawing control still requires fundamental practices in handling movement, spacing and pressure.

This point needs no special handling other than even pressure applied to the round (or square) head as it is pushed in the directions needed.
On the left are strokes in various point sizes, condensed, italic and extended widths to practice for most letter forms.
